Today is world Aids day, which was first honored in 1987 to raise awareness.
Since 1995 the President of the United States has made an official proclamation.

A lot has changed since 1987, with the advent of new treatments the goals are to preventing new infections, making treatments available to all and keep information high for newer generations who perhaps have not seen the harrowing images and stories of people dying under really bad conditions from this virus.

The hope is that within a few years World Aids day will serve as a rememberance, when a full cure is available.
